David R Elder, age 62 , of Villas NJ. passed away at home in his sleep on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. David was born in Bristol, PA and was formerly of Bucks Co. PA. before moving to Cape May Co. 26 years ago. David worked for the City of Cape May for 25 years and previously had worked for General Motors in Trenton for 14 years. He was a Union Shop Steward for UAW Local 2327 for 20 years. David was a championship baseball coach for the Lower Twp. Recreation League for many years. He loved fishing, Disney World and spending time with his grandchildren. David was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Marie (nee Lynch) Elder. He is survived by two sons, Shane (Marissa) Elder and Michael Elder; two daughters, Danielle (John) McCooey and Janell (David) Holovich. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Saturday 3:00 PM, April 16, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ where friends may call from 2 to 3 pm. Burial will be private.
