Helen V. Mottershead, age 92, of West Cape May passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, 2016 at her home. Helen was born May 12, 1923 in Greensboro, NC; was previously from Secaucus, NJ and has been a Cape May area resident for the past nine years. She is the daughter of the late Walter and the late Millie (Talley) Southern. Helen enjoyed painting, crocheting, and gardening. She was a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the DAV, VFW, and American Legion. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years George Mottershead, II; her son George Mottershead, III; and her brother Richard Southern. Helen is survived by two daughters: Millie (Harry) Schmidt and Julia (Michael) Dillon. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. There will be a chapel service held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 18, 2016 at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ 08652.
