I met Gunner only one time, many, many years ago. What he shared in one conversation with my boyfriend and I,was life changing. He was truly an intuitive, he knew us, without actually knowing us. I left our one and only conversation with a renewed sense of purpose. I often thought of him over the years, wondering what happened to " Gunnar from the tiki bar..." I am not surprised to see how many people he'd touched throughout his life. Again, just in meeting him one time, he's always stuck in my mind, one conversation with him quite literally changed everything. My condolences are with his family, his friends, and anyone else who was lucky enough to have met such a wonderful human being.

Gunnar was an amazing person....truly the most beautiful mind I'd ever encountered, his ability to see within the hearts and minds of those around him made him truly unique. His poetry and prose will remain his legacy, an eternal source of inspiration for those struggling to attain a higher level of peace, and a more meaningful existence. I feel honored to have known him and am saddened by this loss, but comforted by the knowledge that Gunnar will, at last, be in peace.

To Kirsten & Gunnar's Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time over the loss of Gunnar. He was a sweetheart and a very sick young man. We became friends after my nephew, Michael passed on 1 July 2013. Gunnar called often and we would speak of Michael and he would tell me of his heart condition. He called me around Christmas. He was suffering a heart attack and was trying to get himself to the hospital. We last spoke a few weeks ago. He said he didn't want to have anymore stents put in. He seemed happy and content and told me something he said he had to get "off his chest" and he did. He was a good person with a kind and loving spirit. He just wanted everyone to get along. He always made time for everyone that came into his life. He loved Autumn, his cat. I hope someone in the family is taking care of her in Gunnar's absence. I'm sure she is a lost soul without Gunnar. I know I sure miss talking to him. May he rest in peace.

I think anyone who ever met Gunnar was changed by him, he had a rare insight into people's souls, akin to how he could see a tiki hidden under a piece of wood. I always pictured him living on an Ashram or something because he brought peace and light wherever he went. You are missed by the many whose lives you touched in a profound way.

"Gunnar", no matter the earthly circumstances, you'll be missed and always remembered. I have to give him "his due". One of the most distinctive people I've ever known. Supremely insightful with a penchant for artistic aptitude that expressed itself through tiki carvings and ofttimes poetic "writings of the soul".
I know I'll never personally encounter his unique calibre ever again. Farewell, Thank You, Good Night.

We knew Brian for 20 years. He was fond of our children and wrote poems for them. We have a piece that he carved. It was one of his first. We will truly miss him and we loved him. Seeing him was always a wonderful experience. It did not matter how many days or years passed between meetings, it was always as if you had just seen him hours before. I would like to pretend this is not real. We will miss him.

Gunner was such a special person in our life. I met him through my husband when gunner started carving tikis here at our house. I would sit and talk with him for hours. His spiritual presence was felt strongly. I just saw him around Christmas and he told me how he was finally at peace with his life and felt his work was done here. I am grateful for that last bit of time I had with him. I am sure he is looking over all us.

The guy had a temper, but then again, so do I. He was great in knowledge and a leader if he had ever been given the chance. But such as he must stand in the shadows and watch the less well done fail repeatedly in this life and in the next. Amen.

Hi, hope the family remembers us on Burk Avenue, the Polhamus's. We lived there between 1982-1993, I am Brian, and my Mother is Mary, and my Sister is Debbie, my Brother is Tim, my Father was Bill. We were across the street from your home on Burk, at 325 West. My deepest condolences go out to your family. I remember Brion as an ideal neighbour those days on Burk Avenue. Also I remember having meaningful conversations with him, as he would do auto detailing on his Monte Carlo. He was a unique individual and will be missed,

Brion was a childhood friend. He was the eighth child of my mother! He was like my own brother! Brion told me many times that he and I are connected via the universe and no matter how long we may not see each other, we are still connected. Life goes on, but it will be hard to live it without my best friend!
His family has always been an inspiration to me, and I want them to know that it's because of them I know that there are good people left on the great planet of ours.
I will miss Brion's sense of humor and that laugh of his. Brion was well read, and he was extremely intelligent! He was full of wisdom and much love for others. Rest in Peace Brion. I love you man! Lenny!
