Obituary of Edward W. Orr

Edward W. Orr, age 85, of Rio Grande, formerly of the Somerton Section of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 27, 2015. Edward was born April 11, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA; the son of the late Edward Joseph and the late Viola (Armstrong) Orr. Edward was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, class of 1948, where he played varsity football. He was a retired meat industry executive, and was the owner/operator of Pas Packing Company, George L Wells Meat Company, Joseph A Swanick Meats, Inc. and Orr's Quality Foods all of Philadelphia, PA. Ed enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing and was an experienced Handicapper. He also was an avid fisherman and boater. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Grace (nee Oliver) Orr; sons: Edward W (Anna) Orr, Jr.; William J (Elizabeth) Orr; Thomas F (Maureen) Orr; Michael H Orr; daughter Elizabeth Ann (Michael) D'Antuono. He was predeceased by his daughter Maryellen Orr. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
