In 1972 when we would act up in class at Philip Baker, Mr Marrone would say
"Please do it.
Try to do it.
Forget it"
It was a moment of humor everyone remembers.

I am so sorry for your loss, and please accept my sincere condolences. It's consolatory to know that Mr. Marrone will be back to teach once more. (John 5:28, 29) but as for now, he resides in God's memory.

I just saw him. I wasn't sure it was him. I thought to myself, "oh, that couldn't be 'Mr. Marrone!'" He
Looked so different. And he was being wheeled in a wheelchair. It was the first Friday of December at Josh's Boy Scout Spegetti Dinner that's always a day before the West Cape May Christmas Parade. I would have said "hello" had I had the courage to be wrong. Talk about a missed opportunity of a lifetime! Seeing the picture they posted, I now for certain, it was him. I loved him as a teacher. He was such a wonderful teacher. He was a "born teacher" someone who's gift it was to teach others. He made me actually enjoy English and Grammar. I was never good at spelling and still am not to this day. Thank God for Spellcheck... lol. I know he wouldn't have remembered me from 1978 and 1979, but still I wanted to thank him and tell him how I carried that love into high school and had another teacher like him (Mr. Bimbo) who was a great teacher as well and that I recently thanked him on Facebook for his teachings, and while they're no longer taught in the schools (sentence diagramming, proper grammer, and so forth) they were still being taught to a new generation because of him, ultimately them.
I would have told him I went on to marry a wonderful man who was probably one of the most successful and decent Detectives Lower Township ever had. How he too was a teacher, an instructor at the police academy. And a natural teacher, patient and kind, as he was with his children and how he is presently an asst. Leader at our son's Boy Scout troop, where Joshua made Eagle Scout last year and how he too was leader in scouts.
Mr. Marrone's legacy went far, and I'm just one person. Imagine the untold thousands of children he taught over all those years! Surely he impacted so many more than just me! I know a lot of kids today don't care about school and just want to get on to their iPads or cell phones to text or God knows what, but there are some who want to learn. And they gravitate to the people who want to teach. He was that kind of man. He made me that kind of person too. "Thank you for that."
I taught my children what he taught me and I teach children in schools today those basics when helping with their homework. He was a kind man. Soft spoken. Stricken with an affliction he most certainly didn't deserve, but it looks like he kept teaching until, I suppose he couldn't any longer. I would see him in the drive thru at the bank I worked at until 1994, when Rebecca was born. Hard to believe she just turned 21! I would have told him that. I would have said, "Thank you!" And I would have wished him a Merry Christmas, that I now see he never would have lived to see, not here anyway. He most surely celebrated the Birth of His Savior, with the Risen King of kings and Lord of lords. Good for him! No more wheelchair! Only dancing!
Thank you Mr. Marrone! You were a great teacher and a great man!
My deepest condolences and sympathies to all his family and all those who loved him. Christmas for them will never be the same, I know. I'm so sorry for that. I'm sure they realize the gift Mr. Tom Marrone was given for Christmas. He was made whole again and I can't think of a more deserving decent human being. May Almighty God be your comfort now and all the days and Christmases to come! May he grant you Peace from The Prince of Peace now and forever!
Love, Ilene Grossman-Hedum.

Tom:
You were a bright star who faded much too quickly from our lives and left a void that cannot be filled. From the first day we met as high school freshmen, you stood out. You showed class even when spilling a jelly donut on your shirt, and nobody could play the bass guitar better. The music of the '60's never had a better friend, and I never knew anyone with a sense of humor quite like yours. Until we see each other again.
