I am shocked and saddened by the loss of Dave. I worked with Dave at Sperry Univac while I lived in Seattle and commuted to PA for over a year in the early 80's. Dave and another employee and I received a special company award for work done.
I left Sperry in 1984 to pursue an idea. Dave visited me in Seattle to assist in a Commodore computer product. Dave was truly a talented guy.
I moved to Ireland in 1986 (where I remain) and have been attempting to reconnect with Dave over the years with no success. I only recall Dave living in Pa.
Tonight, while watching a commercial with a steam locomotive in it, I immediately recalled that Dave loved and worked on Steam Engines I immediately googled "Locomotive + Pennsylvania +Gairo" which resulted in the news of Dave's death.
I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Dave's passing. RIP my friend.

I did not know Brother Gairo but I would like to express my sympathies to his family and friends. Those of us who are railroad workers take the loss of one of our own personally. Rest in peace, my brother.

Mr Gairo,
I know you as a young boy.
You son was and is a friend of mine to this day.
Tony is more than likely one of the two friends I have had the
longest in life.
I remember the the organ, the train set up and your audio equipment and
your love of music.
There were many fun times at your home in Bensalem, PA as a child.
May you rest in peace and may your family find comfort at this time of grief.
