Joseph S Marlow, age 82, of Cape May Point passed away on Monday, April 15, 2013 at Cape Regional Med. Center. Joseph was born and raised in Camden, NJ; but has been a Cape May area resident since 1965. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War where he served as a medic in a MASH unit, and was recommended for a Purple Heart for wounds he received capturing an escaped prisoner. Joseph worked at the New York Shipyard in Camden as a pipefitter, working on such ships as the USS Savannah (the first civilian nuclear powered ship) and moved to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard where he rose to the position of estimator and planner for the repair of naval ships until his retirement. Joseph was a member of the Pipefitter's Union # 56 of the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, a lover of boats of all kind, a member of the Animal Outreach, and a Paralyzed Veteran Sponsor. Joseph was preceded in death by his long time companion Sophie G Wolfe. He was her primary caregiver, a task which he lovingly did until her death in 2012. He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Magee (Patrick) of Blackwood, NJ; and his step son David Wolfe (Lucinda Scott) of Philadelphia, PA.; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. There will be a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, Washington St, Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 10:30 AM.
