Obituary of Walter Stanley Iwasevic
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter Stanley "Chip" Iwasevic, III, of Erma passed away quietly in his home Saturday, October 3, 2015. He recently celebrated his 60th birthday. Chip is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Jennifer (Mullock) Iwasevic. They enjoyed many of the same things and had a happy life together traveling, kayaking, fishing from their Grady White and entertaining a wide circle of friends and family. Chip was an accomplished woodworker and sailor who loved building sail boats, finding antiques and treasures and transforming them into something even more beautiful and useful. He also loved the Steelers and the Phillies and his cherished Harley. Chip was born in McKees Rocks, PA, and was proud to be a "tough Polish kid from Pittsburgh". He served as an Aviation Machinist Mate in the US Navy and traveled widely both in the service and after, and met his wife Jennifer in Oregon, where they made many friends. Chip and Jennifer eventually settled in Cape May with their son. Leo, who is a Tugboat Captain and Apprentice Docking Pilot based in Philadelphia. Leo's dad instilled in him his love of boating and the sea and Leo followed the course his dad set. Leo is married to Courtney (Tsosie), and the Tsosie family; including Mike "Navajo" Tsosie; were good friends. Leo and his dad spent many happy times on the family deck sharing stories from their mutual loves of boating, fishing and woodworking. Chip was a Senior Practical Nurse at the Woodbine Developmental Center, where he made a lot of friends and often spoke fondly of the "guys" under his care. He was an imposing man with a quiet presence; he was kind, thoughtful, loving and brave and will be missed. Chip was the eldest son and is survived by his parents Walter II and Dorothy, brothers Richard (married to Crystal), and Joe (married to Trish), sisters Laureen (married to Brad), Cindy (married to Tom), and Roberta (married to Mike), godson Bill Evans, plus many nieces and nephews; his son Benjamin and wife Rachel, grandson Natas and granddaughter Baby Alice. Chip enjoyed seeing his Pittsburgh family this past summer, and spending precious time with Bennie and his family. He is also survived by his son Walter IV. Chip was loved by his wife Jennifer's large Mullock family, who thought of him as one of their own. His "brothers" Paul, Stephen (married to Dawn), Bob (married to Linda), Daniel (married to Patti), Norman (married to Tee), David (married to Linda), Michael (married to Andi), sister-in-law Marilyn and her husband Joe, his mother-in-law Peg, and many nieces and nephews will sorely miss him. In the last few years, Chip embraced eastern philosophy with his friends Phyllis and Dave; we think he would remind us that "people in this world are like travelers whose journey is going on though they are asleep". To remember him and honor his memory he would urge us to "be kind to each other". Funeral arrangements are private at the request of the family.
