Obituary of Michael J Davey

Michael J Davey, 80, of Villas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, PA and formerly of South Philadelphia; he summered here for 20 years and has been a full time resident since 1993. Michael was a graduate of South East Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann, was head usher at the 4 PM Mass at St Raymond's RC Church, was a director of the Bayshore Sportsman Club (where he supervised the Tuesday Night Trap Shoot), and enjoyed fishing (especially with Bobby). Michael was a factory technician for Fairbanks Morse Scales Company of Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife of 61 years Catherine ("Kitty") Davey of Villas; his son Michael (Maria) Davey Jr. of Springfield, PA; and his daughter Susan (Chris) Kane of Huntingdon Valley, PA. Also surviving are six grandsons, one granddaughter, and one sister Marie McFeeley of Williamstown, NJ. Michael was preceded in death by his brother John Schuck. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Saturday. July 14, 2012 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ 08251; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The family suggests donations to the St John Neumann Parish, 680 Townbank Rd, N Cape May, NJ 08204 in memory of Michael Davey or the Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9, Swainton, NJ 08210.
