Joseph William ("Jake") Welsh Sr., age 87, of North Cape May died Monday, April 1, 2013 at Victoria Manor of N. Cape May, NJ. Jake was born December 6, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA; and has been a Cape May Co. resident since 1989. He had served in the US Navy during World War II. Jake was a self employed television repairman for about thirty years and also worked in the Maintenance Dept. for the State of Pennsylvania in the state's Philadelphia buildings. He was lastly employed by Port Royal Hotel, Wildwood Crest. Jake enjoyed tinkering with mechanical things and was a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion and a grandson Francis. Jake is survived by four daughters: Christine (Lewis Rhoades) Welsh of Gilbertsville, PA; Joanne (Fran) Ryan of Fairless Hills, PA; Kathleen (Kass) Laughlin of Philadelphia, PA; Shannon Welsh-Morris (Kevin) of Douglassville, PA; and four sons: Joseph "Jake" Welsh Jr. of North Cape May, Dennis Welsh of Cape May, James Welsh of North Cape May, and Raymond (Kim) Welsh of Meshoppen, PA. Also surviving are his sister Nan Duffy, his brother Walter Welsh, twenty grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
