Obituary of Joseph Richard Ogen

Joseph "Rick" Ogen, 67, of North Wildwood passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Philadelphia, he has been a Cape May area resident for nearly 50 years. Rick was a 1962 graduate of Camden High School and went on to earn his bachelors degree in business from Rutgers University. He worked for Tolz Real Estate in North Cape May for 18 years and for Avalon Real Estate for 29 years. Rick was a member of the Elks Club of North Wildwood since 1994 and was a past president and vice president of the Kiwanis Club in the 1970's. He was a member of the Love Affair Band as a singer and trumpet player, a member of the Cape May Tennis Club, and a Seated Councilman for North Wildwood. Rick was a boater, fisherman, tennis player, traveler, Phillies fan, and loved singing karaoke. He was a great husband, father, and Pop Pop. Rick is survived by his wife of 44 years Phyllis Ogen of North Wildwood, his son Richard "Rick" of Cape May, and his daughter Donna (David) Burkhardt of Cold Spring, NJ. Also surviving are his granddaughters Taylor & Morgan Burkhardt, and his buddy Starsky (his dog). Rick was preceded in death by his sister Frances Ogen and his dog Black Jack. There will be a Celebration of Rick's Life on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Rick's memory to the Cape May County Animal Shelter, 110 Shelter rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
