George K. Reeves Sr., 75, of Wildwood Crest passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his home. Born in Pensacola, FL, he has been a Cape May area resident for the past 44 years. George served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War and also served in the National Guard from 1976-1996. He worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs at the National Guard Armory in Cape May Court House for over 20 years and retired in 1996. He also worked part-time in security at Sea Point Village in Wildwood Crest. He was a life member of the Villas Fire Co. George was preceded in death by his wife Alice J. Reeves. He is survived by 3 sons: John of Fords, NJ, George K. Jr. of Indian Land, SC, and James L. III of N. Cape May; 2 daughters: Rosemary Hilvert of N. Cape May and Shirley Stalford of Rio Grande; 3 brothers: James Jr. of Alabama, Ray and Randal both of Florida; 4 sisters: Phyllis Pledger of Florida, Patricia Reeves of Alabama, Janice Raygon of Florida, and Jackie Bailey of AL. George also leaves 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Evoy funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, N. Cape May; where friends may call from 10:00 to 12:00. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Cape May Co. Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. Contributions in his memory may be made to Every Breath Counts Foundation, PO Box 209, Somers Point, NJ 08244.
