I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Coach Mullen's family. Coach had a huge impact on my life and I often thought of him. He had a great sense of humor and a way of making us on the bench feel that we were just as needed as those that had talent. He will be missed. God bless. Woody GHS 74

Sorry to hear about Bob's passing. He was like a second father to me. I had the honor and privilege of playing basketball for him in 1968-69 at Galena High School in Galena, IL. His name is mentioned often when talking about the past. His memories will always be with me.
God Bless you and your family.

I wanted to leave my condolences for the family of Bob Mullen. My parents Willis "Mac" McKinney and Ann were good friends with Bob and Marcia in Galena, while Bob and my dad were employed in the Galena School system. My brother Bruce and myself got to play basketball, baseball, and cross country track under Coach Mullen. Thinking back those were a lot of good years, good times, and growing up experiences that Coach Mullen was an important part of in our lives. I got to visit with Bob a few years ago at a reunion for him at "The Mark" in Moline, IL. It was so good to see and visit with Coach Mullen and to reminesce about days gone by and to learn of all his accomplishments and his lasting effects and memories on so many other young athelites and people he has encountered in his years of educating and guiding youth. My prayers are for his family to always have those fond memories of special times with and special relationships they had with him. Thank you for sharing Bobs life and time with all of us. Sorry to hear of Mr. Mullen's passing. He taught me many lessons in life, especially to never give up. When he coached F-S football we lost to Wahlert 64-0. He made us run up the hill on the football field in full gear 64 times. Next time we played them we kicked their butts. Funny how you never forget those things. Many fond memories of a guy who always took the time to care.

Very sorry to read of the passing of Coach Bob Mullin. I was a member of Coach Mullin's very first Pirate basketball team in 1965. The lessons learned from that magical 20-4 season far transcended the basketball court and contributed hugely to personal values that have since endured for 45 years. Bob Mullin was a great person and a great coach. My most sincere condolences to Bob's wife and family.
