Obituary of Joseph M Canally

Joseph M Canally, 81, of Villas passed away at his home on March 15, 2012 at his home. Born in Philadelphia, he was a 1948 graduate of North Catholic HS and then worked as an engineer for Marriott Inc. in Philadelphia. In 1978 he and his family moved to Cape May. There he was a parishioner of St Raymond's RC Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active in their Boy Scout troop as a leader. Joseph was also a member of the Cape May VFW and the Villas Fishing Club. Joseph spent many years as a house painter and painted some of the oldest houses in Cape May. Being true to his love of the beach, he worked ten years for Cape May Public Works Dept. with the last three of those years spent as a beach tag inspector. Joseph is survived by his wife Mary Ann (Johnson) and his daughter
Patricia Ann (Dan) Aldrich of Springfield, ME, and 8 grandchildren: Patrick, Danielle, Mary Ellen, Joseph, Matthias, Hannah, Ruth, and Lydia. Also surviving are his sister Mary Ann (Dan) Frankenfield of Philadelphia, and one niece AnnMarie, and one nephew Danny. Joseph is preceded in death by his son Sean F. Canally who passed in Dec. 2010. Friends and family may call from 10 - 11 am at St Raymond's RC Church on March 22, 2012 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated immediately following at 11 am. Interment will follow at St Mary's Cemetery in Cold Spring, NJ.
