OBITUARY Clarence J "Bud" Howard, Jr., 82, of Villas passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Fishing Creek, NJ; he has been a life-long Cape May area resident. Clarence worked for Bowman Builders for over 30 years and later became self employed as Bud Builders in Lower Township. He has been a member of the Villas Fire Company since 1944; serving as lieutenant in 1953; Assistant Chief from 1966 to 1988; and fire commissioner from 1968 to 1988. Clarence was also a charter member of the Lower Township Rescue Squad where he served for 10 years. He was a social member of the VFW Buddy Lewis Post 5343 of Villas for over 50 years. Clarence is survived by his wife of 56 years Marion (nee Merkel) Howard of Villas; his daughter Shelly (Fran) Meehan; his son Chuck (Lorreto) Howard; his son Bill (Chris) Howard; and his daughter Terry (Chuck) Gift. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. There will be funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Villas Fire Company, Bayshore Rd & Georgia Ave, Villas, NJ 08251; where friends will be received Friday evening Sept 7, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday, Sept 8, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Tabernacle Cemetery, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ 08204.
