James "Jim" Tate, 67, of Cartaret, NJ, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway, NJ. Born in Peckville, Pa and formerly of Newark, NJ; he has been a long time resident of Cartaret, NJ. He was a graduate of the Parochial School in Newark. James served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a corrections officer at Rahway State Prison and a travel coordinator for Eastern Airlines. James was preceded in death by his brother Francis (Frank) Tate in 1976. He is survived by his three sisters: Frances Perry of North Cape May; Ann Lohmeyer of Monroe Township, NJ; and Patricia Newland of North Cape May. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in James' memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
