Obituary of Walter H Greame
Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Walter H Greame, 92, of Cape May Point passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 after a short illness. The loving husband of Arline, who predeceased him in 2010, Walter was a local artist for the past 35 years. Born and raised in Scranton, PA; Walter and Arline fell in love with Cape May during a vacation in 1977, and moved to their home on the Point that year. Walter worked as a machinist with the Curtis Wright Corp. before enlisting in the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1944. After being discharged in 1946, Walter and Arline moved to Denville where he was employed with Thiokol Corp. An extremely gifted and talented artist, Walter began carving acrylics; and his products were featured in national magazines. Walter's business took off so he left Thiokol in 1967 to pursue his dream of carving full time; which he did until the end of 2011. Walter is survived by his two sons: Robert Greame of Andover, NJ and James Greame of Aiken, SC; and his brother Willard Greame of Vestal, NY. Also surviving are his six grandchildren: Yvonne Nunn, Deborah Fluri, Robert Greame Jr.; Alyssa Wingard, Christopher Greame, & Sundae Younkers; and twelve great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held in Cape May Point. The family suggests donations in Walter's memory be made to Deborah Hospital, 20 Pine Mill Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
