Margaret M Thornton, age 78, of Villas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at her home. Margaret was born September 20, 1934 in Dublin, Ireland and has been a Cape May area resident since 1956. Margaret is the daughter of the late Charles and the late Nora (Carney) Elliott. She retired from St Raymond's RC Church rectory as a cook after 20 years of service. Margaret also worked as a nursing aid at Crest Haven Nursing Home and was the nanny for the Linnington family. She was a member of St Raymond's RC Church, the Altar & Rosary Society, and the PTA. Margaret is survived by: her husband of 56 years John F Thornton; one daughter Frances (Earl) Clark of Halifax, PA; three sisters: Ann Chambers, Marie Conlon, Mercedes Lerario; and four brothers: Patsey Elliott, Noel Elliott, Paul Elliott, and Charles Elliott. She also leaves two grandchildren: Sean & Andrew, and two great-grandchildren: Tyler & Nicolas. Margaret was preceded in death by two brothers Ullalious and David, There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
