Richard C Foster, 67, of Villas passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at his home. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of Magnolia, NJ; he has been a Cape May area resident since 1997. Richard served his country for 8 years in the US Army 82nd Air Borne Division and served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966. He was Commander of the Villas VFW #5343 for 8 years attaining VFW "All American Commander" status two times. Richard was District Commander of District 17 of the VFW from 2004 to 2005. He was also Chief of Staff for the late Frank Moore, State Commander of the VFW from 2006 to 2007. Richard was also a trustee for the Villas Fishing Club; a member of the Villas Elks; a life member of the DAV; and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Erma. He was preceded in death by his brothers Eugene & John Foster. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years Patricia (nee Pacholski); his son Richard Foster of Villas; his daughter Patricia (Lt. Commander Dana) Melvin of New Orleans, LA; his daughter Cheryl Foster of Villas; and six grandchildren: Brittany, Matthew, Ryan, Dean, Mackenzie, & Nicholas. Also surviving are his brother Lewis (Maureen) Foster of Trevose, PA; his brother James (Wilma) Foster of Kingman, AZ; his sister Marie (Sonny) Howlett of Philadelphia; his sister Barbara (Ralph) Foster of Oaklyn, NJ; his sister-in-law Debra Pacholski; many nieces & nephews; and his faithful companion Dharma. There will be a funeral service at 11:30 AM on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. The family suggests donations in Richard's memory to the New Jersey Veteran's Memorial Home, 524 North West Blvd, Vineland, NJ 08360.
