John E "Jack" Paynter, 87, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2011 at North Cape Center. Born in Darby, PA; he spent most of his life in the Cape May area. John was a lab technician at Harbison-Walker Magnesite in Lower Township. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II, and was the former owner of Jack's Barn in Rio Grande. John was preceded in death by his daughter Beverly M Paynter in 1995. He is survived by his wife Grace Greene Paynter (nee Koehler); his son Steven J Paynter of CMCH, NJ; his son Blaine L Paynter of CMCH, NJ; his step children: Judy (John) Bowen, Karen (Kevin) Greene, Jerry W Greene, Michael (Sandra) Greene, & Patrick (Deborah) Greene. Also surviving are his sisters: Judy (John) LaPorte; Gloria (William) Keever; & Joanne Paynter; grandchildren: Blaine Jr. & Brooke Fessler; and several nieces, nephews, and step grandchildren. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday November 18, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
