James R Wood, age 81, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at North Cape Center of North Cape May, NJ. James was born November 24, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA and has been a Cape May area resident since 1976. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War. James was a carpenter at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia and then later for the Clayton Construction Company of Ocean City, NJ. He was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann. James was preceded in death by his wife Josephine in 2001. He is survived by two daughters: Maria (William) Walters of North Cape May, NJ, and Theresa (Richard) Allamong of Newport News,Va; and two sons: Alvin "Skip" (Patricia) Wood of Philadelphia, PA, and Gary A (Sandy Siddons) Wood of Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Family and friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the Parish of St John Neumann, St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Interment will follow the service at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204. The family suggests donations in James' memory to the USO, PO Box 96322, Washington, DC 20090-6322.
