Obituary of Andrea Castellano

Andrea "Andy" Castellano, age 75, of Rio Grande passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his home. Andy was born in Abruzzia, Italy on Feb 1, 1936. He came to America via boat, and began a career as an auto mechanic; working at Kindle Ford and Rossi Volkswagon; before opening his own business. He enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles, playing poker, bocce ball, and spending time with family and friends. Everybody loved Andy's "gravy" (Spaghetti sauce). He worked until just three weeks ago while he battled cancer, never complaining or letting it interfere with his life. Andy or "Mr. C' lived his life for his family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Anna (Velli), who he loved and missed every day; along with his loving grandson Billy. Andy is survived by his four children: Ann Marie, Tina, Nick, & Gino who will miss their father greatly; but will carry on the Castellano name that Andy was so proud of. His pride and joy were his 12 grandchildren (including Billy): Shannon, Jimmie, Jess, Maria, Will, Kaitlin, Nico, Mikey, Zac, Frankie, & Chase; who loved Pop Pop very much. Mr. Castellano "Andy" will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives. He touched many lives and left many great memories for us all. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the Parish of St John Neumann, St Raymond's RC Church, Ocean & Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ 08251; where friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow the service at St Mary's Cemetery, 1056 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ. The family suggests donations in Andy's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
