DiMascio, Joseph A. on October 9, 2011. Our beloved, Joseph was peacefully taken from his home to his Heavenly Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ; also from the arms of his loving and devoted wife, Mary. He will always be remembered by all who knew him for his loving, caring, and giving ways. Joseph lived by his motto: "Death before Dishonor" and his creed "Discretion is the greater part of Valor". Joseph was the son of the late Antonio and Cristinia DiMascio. Brother of the late Palmarina, Mario, Rocco. Joseph is survived by his brothers Angelo (Connie)and Guido; sisters-in-law Rita and Patricia. Beloved Poppy to Phillip Jordan and his devoted friends Susan and Phillip J Jordan. Also survived by his nephews: MSGT Steven ("Little Joe") USMC (Lindy); Christopher; and Rocco DiMascio; and several other Nephews and Nieces (including Grand, Great, Great Grand & Great-Great Grand) to whom he was a devoted uncle. Joseph was 81 years old; born in South Philadelphia, he graduated from South Philadelphia High School, Class of January 1948. He graduated from the Drexel Institute of Technology with an Associates Degree in Engineering. Joe worked for the Reading Railroad/Conrail/Septa for 43 years as a master electrician. Joe was a 63 year "A" member of the IBEW Local 744, he conducted several training courses (including Atomic Energy, Hazards and controls) for them and received citations and commendations for his contributions to the IBEW Teaching Manuel. Joseph served with the USMC, 1 st Marine Division (1950- 1953) and was a Korean War Veteran having participated in three major combat campaigns against enemy forces in South and Central Korea - receiving 3 major Battle Stars. He was one of 37 Marines attached to the United States Marines Advisory Group to the Korean Marine Corps (KMC), First Korean Regimental Combat team. He received another major battle star with the KMC for defending the Changdan area Western Front, the traditional Gateway to Seoul. Joseph was a life member of the Marine Corps League Dramis Detachment, 1 st Marine division Association, American Legion Post 193 in Cape May, Disabled Veterans #44 in Del Haven, VFW Post 5343 Villas, where he served as an officer. He belonged to the Villas Fishing Club, Reading Retired Veterans Employees Association (RRVEA), was a Past Treasurer of the Property Owners Association of Cape May Beach. He was also a former member of the Sons of Italy, Michelangelo Lodge, Villas and the North cape May seniors. Joe was a member of the Knights of Columbus Stella Maris Council 3546 in Erma, NJ and a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Maroney Assembly and the Color Corps. He was a communicant and former Head Usher at St. John of God Roman Catholic Church and was a Member of the Men of Malvern, Atlantic City Auto Group. Relatives and Friends are invited to his viewing at THE EVOY FUNERAL HOME 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ. Friday Evening from 7 to 9 and Saturday morning 9:00am to 10:30am . A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 :00 am at the Parish of St. John Neumann! St. John of God Campus 680 Townbank Road, North Cape May, NJ. Interment will be at the Cape May County Veterans Cern, Cape May Courthouse.
