Katherine E Derer, age 94, of North Cape May passed away on Monday, October 3, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, she has summered here since 1959; but became a full time Cape May area resident in 1985. Katherine worked at Anita's Apparel in Philadelphia for 20 years. She was a member of the Lehigh Baptist Church in Phila. Katherine is survived by: her son James (Barbara) Derer of Bensalem, PA; son Joseph (Joann) Derer of Phila; daughter Rosemarie (Leslie) Dickerson of Wilmington, DE; and Kathy (Rick) Fretz of Charolette, NC. She is also survived by her sister Frances Unkel of Bensalem, PA; sister Geraldine (Carl) Fidler of Wilmington, NC; 13 grandchildren (4 which she lived with - Kim, Tish, Joe Jr, & Tom); and 11 great grandchildren. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband John in 2009 and two sisters Hannah & Pearl. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Katherine's memory to the Holy Redeemer Home Care and Hospice, 12265 Townsend Rd, Suite 400, Philadelphia, PA 19154.
