Obituary of George James Durante

George James Durante, age 78, of Green Creek departed this life peacefully to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. George was born in Philadelphia, PA, but was a long time resident of Cape May County. He was a self-employed Master brick-layer and mason, whose stellar craftsmanship can be admired in numerous homes around the county as a testament to his notable handiwork. George loved working with his hands and blessed many with his talents. He enjoyed nature and designed many elaborate fishing ponds, that were not only beautiful works of art, but natural habitats for many to enjoy. He was also an avid fisherman. His greatest pride and joy were his six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He was married to the love of his life Rosalind Durante for 58 years. George is survived by: his beloved wife Rosalind; son George Durante; daughter Lynn Trombetta and husband Jack; his grandchildren: George Durante, Eric Durante, Steven Durante, Joseph Trombetta, Gina Wilson, and Jack Trombetta, Jr. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Joey, Brielle, Anthony, Alexa, Sydney, Sage, Taylor, Gia, and Giacamo. He will be sadly missed by his brother Joseph Durante and his sister Diane Davidson. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Bernadette Durante; his brother Peter Durante; and his sister Connie Hensley. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends will be received from 11:00 to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow the service at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ 08204.
