William T ("Bill") Ronaghan, age 65, of Erma passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Cape Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born in Bronx, NY he has lived in many other locations while serving in the Coast Guard; and has been a Cape May area resident since 1989. Bill served his country in the US Navy for 2 years, then 29 years in the US Coast Guard. He has served in Vietnam; Guantanomo Bay Cuba; as well as other installations in the US. Bill received several medals and honors during his military career. He is a retired Coast Guard Company Commander last stationed here in Cape May. He was a member of the Parish of St John Neumann; a life member of the DAV in Del Haven; and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. His family is very proud of his service to his country and dedication & devotion to them. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Patricia Ronaghan; his daughters: Dianna Bemis of Erma, Michelle (Craig) Pilczuk Sr. of North Cape May, & Mary (Steven) Miller Sr. of Villas; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Mary (Hughes) Ronaghan; his son-in-law Philip Bemis; and several aunts & uncles. There will be funeral service at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 and from 9:30 to 10:00 on Friday morning September 2, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Cemetery, 780 Seashore Rd, Cold Spring, NJ. The family suggests donations in William's memory to the American cancer Society, 626 North Shore Rd, Absecon, NJ 08201.
