When my husband Michael and I came for a visit six years ago, Mrs. S. showed me around their home. When I commented on her collection of knick-knacks she said, "It's all because of you. When you were young, you gave me a white porcelain bible with violets on the border. Since then, everyone gives me things with violets." It brought tears to my eyes, as, indeed, I have them when I think of this gracious and loving woman who was my next-door neighbor for many years.
