Obituary of Irene H Kirby

Irene H Kirby, age 76, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2011 at her home. Born in Newark, NJ and formerly of Wood Ridge, NJ; she has been a Cape May area resident since 2003. Irene summered in Cape May from 1978 until moving here full time in 2003. She had a BA degree in Health Education and School Nursing; was a registered nurse at Englewood Hospital, Englewood, NJ for 30 years; where she worked in the newborn nursery. Irene was a member of Parish of St John Neumann. She is survived by her two daughters: JoAnn Kirby-DeFabio & husband Richard DeFabio of Wayne, NJ and Victoria Kirby & husband William Hansen of Oakland, NJ; and sons: James Kirby & wife Tammy of Wayne, NJ and Matthew Kirby of Cape May, NJ. Also surviving are her sister Caroline Thomas of Murphy, TX; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John in March 2011 and son William in January 1998. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Parish of St John Neumann at St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 11:00 to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow the service at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. The family suggests donations in Irene's memory to the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation, 6707 Democracy Blvd, Suite 325, Bethesda, MD 20817.
