Obituary of Anna Deaver
Please share a memory of Anna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anna Deaver (nee Elmore), age 76, of Green Creek passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her home. Anne, as she was known to her family and friends, was born October 6, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA to parents, William & Amelia Elmore. Anne was one of 14 children and all but three have predeceased her. She moved to Villas with her parents along with her siblings, Dolly & Eddie, after the death of her two brothers, Lawrence and Jack Elmore killed in WW II. Anne attended Maud Abrams School in Lower Township and spent her summers as a child playing and swimming in the Delaware Bay with her extended family and friends. Weekends were filled with large family "get-togethers" at her parent's home. She married William C Deaver in 1953 and had three children: Lorraine (Allen) Pickrell, Susan (Clay) Simmons, & William Deaver Jr. They moved to North Wildwood in 1956. While her children were still small, she managed two rental apartments and a family owned beach stand on 15th Street in North Wildwood. As her children became teenagers, she worked summers at the Wildwood Diner while busy raising her family. In 1976 she moved to Shannon Oaks in Rio Grande. She worked for 25 years at the Rusty Nail and Coachman's Motor Inn in Cape May. Anne was an avid Phillies fan, loved to crochet, and do crossword puzzles. She loved to clean and her sisters would say "Anne was born with a rag in her hand". When her beautiful home became too much for her to handle, she moved to Green Creek in 1999 to live with her daughter Susan, son-in-law Clay, and grandson A.J. Simmons; where she died after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. Anne is survived by her children; her grandchildren: Angelina, Anthony, Billy, Jason, & AJ; three great grandchildren; two sisters: Helen Coover & Dolly (Sam) Finocchiaro; one brother Edward (Lucille) Elmore; plus many nieces & nephews too numerous to mention; but all equally important to her. Special thanks to Nancy, Jackie, Barb, Kathy, & Doreen from Holy Redeemer Hospice for their love and support. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Our Lady of Angels RC Church, 35 E Mechanic St, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210; where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Anne's memory to the Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9, Swainton, NJ 08210.
