Obituary of Sadie Mary McDowell

Sadie M ("Sally") McDowell, age 89, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Cape Regional Medical Center. Born in Kutztown, PA and formerly of Philadelphia, she has been a Cape May area resident for 35 years. Sadie was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Church Women, and worked for Holy Redeemer Home Health Care for many years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and was a very good cook. Sadie is survived by her husband of 69 years William McDowell; her daughter Carol A (Richard E) Mauermann of Furlong, PA; her son William R McDowell of Perkasie, PA; and her son Robert C (Mary Louise) McDowell of Newark, DE; Also surviving are her sister Gladys Spring of Birmingham, AL; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 3 brothers. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 1220 Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ; where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Sadie's memory to Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 1220 Bayshore Rd, Villas, NJ 08251.
