John Oehlert, age 71, of Del Haven passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home. Born in National Park, NJ and formerly of Gloucester City and Camden; he has been a Cape May area resident since 1971. John was a retired Class "A" Repairman for the New Jersey Transit Authority and also worked as a welder at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard (working on the USS Kittyhawk). He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, the Eagles, and the Phillies. John was a CB radio operator whose handle was "Bloodworm". He is survived by his son John W (Darlene) Oehlert of Cape May Court House; his daughter Patricia Ann (Luis) Vazquez of North Cape May; his twin sister Alice Meyer of Gloucester Heights, NJ; and his companion Francine Smith of Wildwood. John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years Hazel J Oehlert in 1999; his brother Edward Oehlert; and his sister Georgia Mulligan. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
