Joan Wirges, age 76, of Erma passed away peacefully on Friday, May 27, 2011 at her home with her family by her side. Born in Yonkers, NY and formerly of Poughkeepsie, NY; she has been a Cape May area resident for 25 years. Joan is survived by: her husband of 57 years Robert Wirges of Erma; her son Scott Wirges of Hopewell Junction, NY; her son Michael Wirges of Poughkeepsie, NY; her daughter Caryle Barnish of Poughkeepsie, NY; her daughter Ellen Somogyi of Lambertville, NJ; her daughter Susan Wirges of Clark, NJ; and her daughter Cathy Haggerty of Erma. Also surviving are her sister Linda Baier of Rutherglen, VA and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
