Bertha J Small, age 84, of Lester, PA passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, she was a Cape May area resident from 1983 to 2002, when she moved back to the Philadelphia area. Bertha was a bookkeeper for Esso Oil Co., Standard Oil Co., and Royal Petroleum Co of Philadelphia. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and baking. Bertha is survived by her children: Thomas Harmon of Bel Air, MD; Sadie (Charles) Slotterback of Lester, PA; and Betty Harmon of Bel Air, MD. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; her brother Charles (Sharon) Stinger of Media; and her sister Jeanne Stewart of Lakewood, CO. Bertha was preceded in death by her husband Walter Small in 2001; her daughter Barbara Winter; her brothers: George Stinger, Bill Stinger, and Joe Stinger. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery. The family suggests donations in Bertha's memory to the Church of God, 500 Lagrange Ave, Essington, PA 19029.
