Robert G Kindle, 82, 0f Cape May Court House passed away at the Court House Convalescent Center on the evening of May 5th, 2011. Bob was born on July 25, 1928 in Atlantic City. He remained a lifelong resident of both Cape May County and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. When Bob was young, he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. After the war, Bob returned home to work at his father's gas station; before opening one of his own with his wife, Dorothy. In 1957, the couple relocated to CMCH to found Kindle Autoplaza, where he remained an active part of daily business for many years. During this time, Bob engaged in several humanitarian projects and volunteer activities. He founded two ambulance corps, one in Pamona and one in CMCH. Bob was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Florida Navy League, and was a Boy Scout Master. He was also a member of the board of directors of Betty Bacharach and the Mosquito Commission of New Jersey. He made countless efforts and contributions on behalf of Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital and the American Red Cross. Bob and Dorothy also made several mission trips to Haiti and Jamaica to build churches and schools for underserved communities. He even worked as an aide to Congressman Charles Sandman, exercising his fervent passion for politics. Bob was an avid pilot, skilled fisherman, and animal lover. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Lilliston Kindle with whom he did everything for 59 years. Bob is also survived by his sister Helen McMullen of Ft Lauderdale. He was a loving father to William Kindle and Katherine Kindle Salzlien, and "pop-pop" to Elizabeth, Steven, Lauren, Jamie, and Katlyn. Bob will be sorely missed. Friends and relatives are invited to the Evoy Funeral Home at 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May, NJ on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 for visitation from 9:00 to 12:00 PM with service at noon. Masonic services will be at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cold Spring Presbyterian Cemetery.
