Obituary of Elsa A Martin

Elsa (Kitty) Bates Martin, age 67, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. Born in Woodbury, NJ and formerly of Landisville, NJ; she has been a Cape May area resident since 1975. Elsa worked at Crest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for 22 years retiring in 2007. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their sporting events and other extracurricular activities, and was an avid Phillies fan. Elsa was also a second Mom & Mom Mom to many others. She was a faithful member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, and attended the Lower Township Senior Center - where she enjoyed playing cards and socializing. Elsa is survived by: her daughter Kimberly Bates Vo of North Cape May; her stepson Edward Bates; 6 grandchildren: Jessica (Mike) Gregory, Edward Bates Jr., Christopher Vo, Nicholas Vo, Amanda Vo, & Johnny Babbit Jr.; and 2 great grandchildren: Mikey & Mason Gregory. Also surviving are her sisters: Katherine Gunston, Carol Rodriguez, & Elaine Collison; her brothers: Samuel Price Jr. & Harry Price; her daughter-in-law Terry Bates; and many nieces & nephews. Elsa was preceded in death by her brother John Price and her sister Jean Werger. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. The family suggests donations in Elsa's memory to Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
