Leon J Andrelczyk, age 86, of Villas passed away peacefully on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the Crest Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of that city, he summered in the Cape May area since 1964; becoming a full time resident here in 1985. Leon was a railroad car inspector for the B & O Railroad in Philadelphia for 35 years. He served his country in the US Marines during World War II and was at Iwo Jima when the infamous flag raising occurred. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, & gardening; and was a member of St John of God RC Church and the Villas Fishing Club. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Dolores (nee Ring) Andrelczyk of Villas and his five children: Betty Ann Andrelczyk of Philadelphia; Marie Boher of Philadelphia; Joan (Glenn) Graiser of CMCH; Leona (Jack) Sperber of Broomall, PA; & James Andrelczyk of Villas. Also surviving are: his brother Frank (Mary) Andrelczyk; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Parish of St John Neumann at St John of God RC Church, 680 Townbank Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210. The family suggests donations in Leon's memory to the Holy Redeemer Hospice, 1801 Route 9, Swainton, NJ 08210.
