Clara Peters, age 73, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at her home. Born in Cape May and formerly of Camden & Merchantville; she returned to this area 33 years ago. Clara has had many occupations including being a truck driver; working at the Woolworth Department Store in Camden; the James Way in Cape May Court House; and working for many years at the 7-11 Markets in Villas, Rio Grande, and Angelsea. Clara enjoyed gardening, doll collecting, collecting frogs, and was famous for her Christmas decorating skills. She is survived by her son Jimmy Letts of Villas; Son Stephen (Tracey) Peters of Cape May; and daughter Susan Whalen of Fords, NJ. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren: Stephanie, Christine, Michelle, Suzan, Lucas, Timothy, Jason, Rebekah, & Raymond; her 5 great grandchildren: Lucas, Shayla, Kateri, Kera, & Audrey; her brother Daniel (Eileen) Barclay; and 4 nieces, 1 nephew, and many cousins. Clara was preceded in death by her daughter Constance Letts in 1978; her sister Diane Callahan; and her brother Clarence Yearicks Jr. There will be a funeral service at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Interment will follow the service at Baptist Cemetery, Church St, Cape May Court House.
