Harold L ("Nick") Nickler, age 75, of Villas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at his home. Born in Elkart, IN and formerly of King of Prussia, PA; he has been a Cape May area resident since 1990. Harold served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1954 to 1962 serving on the USS Lloyd Thomas. He was a postal supervisor for the US Postal Service for 25 years. Harold was a past administrator of Moose Lodge #1054 of Erma; a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly # 671 of Wildwood; a member of the Stella Maris Knights of Columbus Council 3546 of Erma; a past Commander & Bar Stewart of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 44 of Del Haven. He was also a member of the Villas Fishing Club; American Legion; the American Veterans Post 002; the Galloway Twp Veteran's Association Post 733 of Upper Deerfield; the Charles Buddy Lewis VFW Post 5343 of Villas; and was a social member of the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Company. Harold is survived by his five children: Gerry (William Jr.) Kennedy of Villas; Julie (Dan) DeOrzio of Bridgeport, PA; Mary Nickler of Bridgeport, PA; Tom (Lemyeung) Nickler of King of Prussia, PA; and Nancy Lightcap of King of Prussia, PA. his long time companion, Laureen "Sif" Kane; Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Joe, Tina, Heather, Billy. & Lin; 1 great grandchild: Adrina; a brother Arthur Nickler of Jupiter, FL; a sister Doris Hostetler of Elkart, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Loyal & Zelma Nickler, and two sisters: Naomi & Betty. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ; where friends may call from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Friday and 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday. Interment will follow the service at the Cape May County Veteran's Cemetery, 127 Crest Haven Rd, Cape May Court House, NJ. The family suggests contributions in Harold's memory to the building funds of either the Knights of Columbus Hall or the Moose Lodge of Erma.
