Warren O Lund, age 89, of Lower Township peacefully entered heaven to be with the Lord and forever hold his wife Evelyn's hand, on Sunday, March 13, 2011. Born in Port Norris, NJ; he has been a Cape May area resident since 1926. Warren and Evelyn were married on August 25, 1943. They enjoyed traveling the world together; spent many winters in Ft Meyers, FL; and celebrated their 64th anniversary in 2007. In 1950, Warren was a founder of Lund's Fisheries in Cape May and was very instrumental in representing the commercial fishing industry's efforts to establish fair laws & regulations by testifying before the US House of Representatives. He had the first processing boat built on the East Coast, the Atlantic Prince, in 1986. Warren was the past president of Lower Cape May School Board during the construction of the Maud Abrams School. He was a member of Rio Grande Bible Baptist Church, and was very involved in his community and church. Warren loved his family, fishing, and the Phillies. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (nee Sessamen) Lund and his daughter Beverly. Warren is survived by his sons: Robert (Rheva); Barry; & Bruce (Brenda); his daughter Donna Oliver; and was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Family & friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday evening, March 17, 2011 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, N Cape May, NJ.
Family & friends may also call Friday, March 18, 2011 at 10:00 to 11:00 AM with services at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 702 Seashore Rd, Erma, NJ. Interment will follow at Tabernacle Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Warren's memory to the Rio Grande Bible Baptist Church, 1107 Route 47, Rio Grande, NJ 08242.
