To my family members: Nana, Pop, my mom(Katie), Tia Jen, Tia Cyndie, Tia Gina, Samantha, Rick, Nick, PJ, Patty and extended family and friends.
I am so sorry about your son, brother, father or "roommate" Ricky.
I didn't know my uncle Ricky that well, but I knew how much he was truly loved. There would be days that I would go to my Nana's house, my mom and my Tia's would be there and they would talk about their childhood and of course Ricky was always mentioned. I would hear about funny stories like when he stuck his finger into a Snapper fish because my dad said it wouldn't bite, and of course he got bit.
Even though I didn't know him as well as the rest of his family did, I could tell he was a pretty cool guy. I wish I had the opportunity to really get to know him.
Anyone that got to know Ricky was very lucky. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

.by Rich Hans on Sunday, March 6, 2011 at 10:00pm.To the man of many words.....it really hasn't hit me yet, but when it does you will know it because I know you will be looking down on me making sure I am making the right coaching decisions. You were in my office the other day and like always we were having a friendly argument that would've gone on forever if your phone didn't ring telling you to get home.....lol. You were one of my best friends because you were always honest with me and you never held back....that's the way friends should be and that's why you were one of my closest friends. You raised great men and I know they will really miss you......we all will. You kept things very interesting. Rick Palmer Sr. I will miss you standing behind me at every game giving me advice and cheering the boys on, the post game conversations, the good times and the bad! I hope you will continue to take care of our boys and continue to come to the games and please always let me know what you think no matter what.......I can't imagine you not being here! I'll miss you man!!!

I wish heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again. I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I'll never part. God has you in his arms I have you in my heart.

Rick Palmer, RIP.
.by Gary Schurr on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 6:49pm.Somewhere in Heaven there is a beach, of this I have no doubt, and on this beach sits our friend Rick. Not on a chair, mind you, but on his towel, because he never brought a chair with him to the beach, not even a beach in heaven.
Sitting next to him is his trusty cooler, loaded down with a six pack of cold Coors Light cans and the hoagie from Blitz’s he picked up on the way. The sun beats down, of course, because every day in Heaven is a beach day. Rick eyes the waves, waiting for just the right breakers to form for body surfing, waders beware. This is Heaven after all and if he has to be here than this is going to be his spot.
He cracks a cold one, leans back, and waits for us all to join him someday. Don’t worry, I’ll bring the Washers Game.
Rick, my friend, we will miss you so very much.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.
The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
Today, the road all runners come,
Shoulder-high we bring you home,
And set you at your threshold down,
Townsman of a stiller town.
Smart lad, to slip betimes away
From fields where glory does not stay,
And early though the laurel grows
It withers quicker than the rose.
Eyes the shady night has shut
Cannot see the record cut,
And silence sounds no worse than cheers
After earth has stopped the ears:
Now you will not swell the rout
Of lads that wore their honours out,
Runners whom renown outran
And the name died before the man.
So set, before its echoes fade,
The fleet foot on the sill of shade,
And hold to the low lintel up
The still-defended challenge-cup.
And round that early-laurelled head
Will flock to gaze the strengthless dead,
And find unwithered on its curls
The garland briefer than a girl's

Patty, Rick, Nick, PJ, and Samantha:
There are no words to express how shocked and devastated we are by Rick's untimely passing. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to all of you. We will certainly miss his outspokeness and mischievious grin! But most of all we will miss the friendship and camaraderie we shared. Although this is sooo very hard, just know that Rick is in a better place. You all have a very special guardian angel watching out for you from above. And because of the love you have for him in your hearts, he will ALWAYS be with you. Keep the faith, and may God bless all of you. We are just a phone call away for anything you may need. Love you all.
Our deepest sympathies,
Lu Ann, Tony, and Theresa
