Irene J Shoemaker, age 82, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at her home. Born in Philadelphia and formerly of Chestnut Hill, PA; she has been a Cape May area resident for many years. She was the beloved wife of Robert A Shoemaker (married for 62 years) of Cape May who survives. Irene is also the loving mother of Linda (Anthony) Martino and Robert A Shoemaker Jr.; and grandmother of: Susan & Tony Martino, and Bobby & Katie Shoemaker. Also surviving are her brother Robert (Mary Ellen) Ostapower and her sister Joan (Carl) Hautzinger. Irene's laughter, smile, and love will be greatly missed by all who knew her. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Cape May Lutheran Church, 509 Pittsburgh Ave, Cape May, NJ 08204; where friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Cold Spring Cemetery, Cold Spring, NJ. May God bless her. The family suggests donations in Irene's memory to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
