Robert Louis Stevenson Sr. of North Cape May passed away suddenly on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the young age of 61. He was born and had resided in Willingboro, NJ until he joined the U.S. Army and was sent overseas in the Vietnam War. In 1973 Robert moved to Cape May County and joined the Wildwood Crests Police Department where he served for 26 years. He was also a member of the PBA, Local #59 Robert was currently working for the Cape May County Park and Zoo in Cape May Court House and in PetSmart in Rio Grande. Robert had a long and strange trip being a Washington Redskins and Chicago Cubs fan, but his loyalty never wavered. His legacy will live on with Sherri Stevenson his beloved wife of 24 years; his children, Timothy Zachary Stevenson, Robert Louis Stevenson Jr., Lindsey Nicole Stevenson, , Kurt Stevenson and Joseph Stevenson; a granddaughter Lily "Bubblehead" Stevenson; siblings, Dolli Losey, Buck Stevenson and Gerri Ridings. Robert also leaves behind his loyal companions Jordan and Tootsie. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Sadie Mae Stevenson and brother, Duke Stevenson. A viewing will be held 10-11:30 am followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May. Burial will be at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church Cemetery in Erma. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Cape May County Animal Shelter, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House, NJ 08210.
