Donald L "Bud" Bailey Sr, 85, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2010. Born and raised in Cape May County, he retired from the Lower Township MUA in 1986 after 25 years of service. Bud was a 1943 graduate of, and outstanding athlete (especially baseball) at Cape May High; served in the US Coast Guard in the Pacific theatre; was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church; the American legion; the Villas VFW; and enjoyed Philadelphia sports teams. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Nancy Bailey; his son Donald (Bud) Bailey Jr. (Karen) of Wallingford, PA; and his daughter Donna Lee Kelly of Rio Grande. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond & Augusta Bailey; sisters: Lillian, Marie, Edith, & Elizabeth; and great granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Kelly. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May; where friends may call from 10:30 to 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. Donations in Bud's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 626 North Shore Rd, Absecon, NJ 08201; or the American Heart Assoc., 1 Union St, Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
