Obituary of Richard J Hewitt

Richard J "Ricky" Hewitt, age 51, of Villas passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Shore Memorial Hospital. Born in Cape May Court House, he was a lifelong resident of Cape May County. Richard was a graduate of Wildwood High School. He was a ride mechanic at Morey's Pier in Wildwood for 15 years; at Storybook Land in Cardiff for 7 years; and worked for Burnd Rennebeck as a troubleshooter setting up and repairing amusement rides world wide. Richard was a lifetime member of the Holly Beach Volunteer Fire Company of Wildwood. His favorite pastime was riding his Custom Harley Davidson "Fatboy" motorcycle. Richard is survived by his: mother Shirley Hewitt of Villas; brothers John L III of Kissiminee, FL; David L of Villas; Paul W (Judy) of N Cape May; Robert J of Ocean City; and sister Dotty (Bruce) Hudson of Erma. Also surviving are his uncle Harold L of Rio Grande; aunt Dorothy Newkirk of Rio Grande; and many nieces & nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his father John in 2003. There will be a funeral service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May, NJ; where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will be at Baptist Cemetery in Cape May Court House. The family suggests donations in Richard's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 295 Route 70 West, Suite 2, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
