Floyd L. Hughes, age 88, of Lower Township passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the North Cape Center. He was born in West Cape May and was a lifelong area resident. Floyd had been a dock foreman for Lund fisheries in Lower Twp for 10 years. He also worked for the Cape May Road Department. He worked for the Civil Conservation Corp prior to WW II in Georgetown , DE; and he served in the US Army during WW II where he was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. Floyd was a former member of the West Cape May Election Board and the VFW Post 386 of Cape May. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris (nee McNeill) Hughes who died in 2005, brother Frank Hughes, and Sister Florence O'Neill. He is survived by two children; Brian Hughes of Villas and Lori (Albert) Narciso of Hubert, NC. He also leaves three grandchildren; Jaqueline, Tara and Sabrina. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday May, 26, 2010 at the Cape May County Veterans Cemetery in Cape May Court House. Contributions in his memory may be made to the National Disabled American Veterans.
