John J Coyle Jr., age 87, of Cape May passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at his home. Born in NE Philadelphia and formerly of that city, he has been a Cape May area resident since 1998. John was a 23 year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department where he attained the rank of Lieutenant; retiring in 1973. He was also a Driver's License Examiner for the State of Pennsylvania. John served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Catholic Police, Firefighters, & Peace Officers of Philadelphia; the Philadelphia Fire Officers Union; and the League of the Scared Heart of Jesus. John is survived by his wife Florence of Cape May; son John J Coyle III (Linda) of Furlong, PA; son Michael Coyle (Susan) of Langhorne, PA; son Timothy Coyle of Philadelphia, PA; and daughter Patricia Blong (Joseph) of Wildwood, NJ. Also surviving are stepsons: John Bielarski (Michelle) of Philadelphia & Paul Bielarski (Anne) of Glenside; and eight grandchildren. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Our Lady Star of the Sea RC Church, 525 Washington Mall, Cape May, NJ; where friends may call from 8:30 to 9:30 AM. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA. The family suggests donations in John's memory to Heartland Hospice, 2 Braddock Dr, Somers Point, NJ 08244.
