Andrew A. Abate, age 88, of North Cape May passed away peacefully on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the North Cape Center. Born in Brooklyn and formerly of Long Island, he has been a Cape May area resident since 1986. Andrew was a grocery store manager at Dan's Supreme in Massapequa, NY. He served his country in the US Navy during World War II. Andrew is survived by: his son Andrew (Linda) G Abate and granddaughter Alison Abate of NY; his daughter Lucille (Jeff) Blom of FL; and his daughter Andrea of CA. He was preceded in death by his wife Lucy Abate in 2006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at St John of God RC Church, Townbank Rd, North Cape May; where friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Cape May County Veterans Cemetery. Donations can be made in Andrew's memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 295 Route 70 West, Suite 2, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.
