Obituary of Clifford P Chew

Rev Clifford P Chew Jr, age 91, a man of God for the last 62 years and longtime resident of the Cape May area; went to reside in heaven on January 6, 2010. He was born and grew up in the Camden, NJ area.
His occupations included serving in the Merchant Marine; captain of party and commercial fishing boats; boat builder; clam shucker; and school teacher. He is most memorably known for his work as a pastor and evangelist in the Church of the Nazarene.
During his lifetime, he was instrumental in establishing, organizing, and building new churches. He was the pastor in Cape May Point and Cape May, NJ, Williamsport and Petersburg, PA, and held the honor of being Pastor Emeritus at the Seashore Community Church of the Nazarene in Cape May. He was also known for his ministry to the fishing community.
Clifford was preceded to heaven by his first wife of 64 years, Catherine Amos Chew. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Townsend Chew; his brother the Reverend Robert Chew; his children: Jim & JoAnne Chew, Jeanne K & Jerry Phipps, Walt & Nancy Chew, Sandy & Dan Shook, Dottie & Paul Brandt, Don & Janie Chew, Rusty & Dagmer Chew; stepchildren: Mildred & James Card, Roald & Theresa Olsen, John & Cherri Olsen, Lars & Michele Olsen; 33 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Seashore Rd, Erma on January 23, 2010 at 10 AM.
