Marcus H ("Pat") Patterson, Sr., 86, of North Cape May passed away on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home. Born in Texas and raised in Gainesville, TX, he joined the US Navy at the age of 16 serving in the entire Pacific Theatre during WWII and was discharged after 5 years. Upon leaving the Navy, Pat joined the US Coast Guard achieving the rank of Master Chief (BMCH) and retired in October of 1965. He was never one to stay retired, and served as a night security guard for Lower Cape May Regional High School until 1991. Pat also joined the Townbank Fire Co. in 1960. He served as Fire Chief for many years and also Fire Commissioner for Townbank. Pat is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years Genevieve Patterson; his son Marcus H Patterson, Jr. (wife Luann) and their two children Marcus III and Amanda (husband Mike); his daughter Linda Gilliam (husband Dan) and two children Daniel Jr. (wife Michelle) & Joseph (wife Jennifer); his daughter Barbara Ray (husband John) and their daughter Karen (husband Ken); his daughter Patsy Bates (husband Lew) and their two children Rebecca & Mark Scott Mason. Also surviving are many great grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd, North Cape May; where friends will be received from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
