Herbert M. Hewett, age 84, of Villas was called home on December 16, 2014. He was born on September 5, 1930 to Eva Marjorie (Dey) Hewett and Raymond Everett Morton in Manasquan, NJ. Herb was a construction Foreman; then a self employed Contractor building homes in NY, Mass and NH as his family grew; returning to NJ 20 years ago. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ralph Thomas Hewett, daughters Melanie Hewett Scandell and Wendy Hewett Beam. He is survived by his wife Carol (Bishop) Hewett and his children: son Herbert Thomas Hewett (Michelle); daughters: Miriam Gengras (Bruce), Marina Hewett, Tami Hewett (Paul Smith); sons: Mark Hewett, Walter Hewett (Teresa); daughters: Jini Hewett, Doris Rollins (David); and son Carl Hewett (Liz). Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; his brother Raymond E Hewett (Ida); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. As a youth, Herb played trumpet in the Salvation Army Band; then later in life enjoyed restoring antique vehicles, fishing and crabbing. In the years between those times, he always loved a good day's work. Herb was a member of the National Woody Club and the Antique Auto Club of America. Calling hours are at Evoy Funeral Home in North Cape May on Saturday, December 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Burial will be private at a future date.
